Pure craft

Nokia has unveiled Nokia Pure, a new typeface that celebrates the brand’s Finnish design heritage. Created by typography designer Dalton Maag, the typeface references the different stroke weights and rounded flow of handwriting, creating a more open effect than the Nokia Sans typeface.

In the video Pure Reversal (see link below), Matt McKenzie of London-based Paekakariki Press shows how he produces a woodblock version of the typeface on his original 1959 Heidelberg KS Cylinder 38 × 52 Press. It’s a perfect example of a technology brand displaying the craft process.
