Fun with electricity

A New York start-up, littleBits Electronics Inc, has attracted new funding to offer ‘open source hardware’ (or electronic component kits) for kids, artists and engineers worldwide. (Cheers, Alex)

littleBits, a system of electronic modules that snap together with magnets, will help to break down the boundaries between the products we consume and the things we make – helping everyone to become an inventor.

Each littleBit has a unique function, from light and sound to sensors and buttons. You simply snap them together, just like LEGO bricks, to create large circuits and interactive products. You don’t need any background in engineering or programming to have a go and, best of all, it’s open source!
